Dr. Iris Miao grew up in Houston, TX. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Afterwards, she completed her cornea and contact lens residency at the University of Alabama. During her residency, she was trained in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with irregular corneas secondary to keratoconus, corneal scarring, and post-surgical complications. The types of contact lenses she fits include gas permeable, hybrid, and scleral lenses. She is also certified in corneal reshaping technology (CRT) for myopia control with orthokeratology.
Dr. Miao is a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. She is experienced in the medical management of a variety of ocular conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye disease. She is also a member of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and American Optometric Association (AOA). Dr. Miao has earned her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and Fellowship in the Scleral Lens Education Society.
In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, painting, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
